How the Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN) collects, uses, and protects your information on the Membership Verification Portal.

ALPSPN ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy and security of information belonging to our members, member companies, and visitors to our digital platforms. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how it is used, who it is shared with, and the choices available to you. By registering for, or using, the ALPSPN Membership Verification Portal, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

When you register as a member or use the ALPSPN Membership Verification Portal, we collect information necessary to verify your identity and your company's compliance status, including:

  • Company details: name, RC number, registered address, state of operation
  • Contact information: email address, phone number, office address
  • NSCDC license and operating permit information
  • Director and CEO identification details
  • Payment records for membership dues, state and national clearance fees
  • Compliance documents: CAC certificate, tax clearance, insurance, staff list, and other uploaded files
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, and login activity for security and audit purposes

2. How We Use Your Information

ALPSPN uses the information collected for the following purposes:

  • To verify membership eligibility and maintain accurate member records
  • To process payments for dues, clearance fees, and certifications
  • To classify and update your company's Good Standing status
  • To issue, renew, and validate digital clearance certificates
  • To respond to your inquiries and provide member support
  • To send important notifications regarding renewals, compliance deadlines, and association updates
  • To maintain audit trails for regulatory and governance compliance

3. Sharing of Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal or company information to third parties for marketing purposes. Information may be shared only in the following circumstances:

  • With the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Ministry of Interior, strictly for the purpose of verifying your ALPSPN membership status during license renewal
  • With payment processors (such as Paystack, Flutterwave, or Credo) to facilitate secure transactions
  • With SMS and email service providers for the purpose of delivering OTPs, alerts, and notifications
  • Where required by law, court order, or government regulation
  • With your state chapter administrators, for the purpose of state-level compliance management

4. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encrypted storage of passwords using one-way hashing algorithms
  • Two-factor authentication (2FA) for administrative accounts
  • Role-based access control limiting data visibility to authorized personnel only
  • Secure HTTPS connections for all data transmission
  • Tamper-proof audit logs recording all sensitive account and data actions
  • Regular review of access permissions and API key usage

5. Your Rights

As a member or user of the portal, you have the right to:

  • Access and review the personal and company information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate or outdated information through your member dashboard or by contacting the secretariat
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent for non-essential communications (such as promotional updates), where applicable
  • Request account deactivation, subject to retention obligations described in Section 7

6. Cookies & Tracking

The portal uses essential cookies and similar technologies to maintain your login session, remember preferences, and ensure the security of your account. We do not use cookies for third-party advertising. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect portal functionality, including your ability to remain logged in.

7. Data Retention

We retain member information for as long as your membership remains active, and for a reasonable period thereafter to comply with legal, regulatory, and audit obligations. Audit logs and payment records are retained in accordance with applicable financial recordkeeping requirements. Where you request deletion of your data, we will retain only what is legally required and remove the remainder from active systems.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other operational needs. We will notify members of material changes via email or a notice on the portal. Continued use of the portal after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
